After all the good press this album got overseas, and the excellent first single, "Morning Afterglow," I can't believe this review is about to go the way it is. A few British magazines touted this album as the album Oasis or Radiohead should've released this year. Reading that, a fan of either of those bands would be jumping at the chance to hear this record.

With expectations that high, the first track better be damn good, right? Nope. "Renegades" is a rap-rock disaster with lyrics about partying that actually come to the point of singing the line, "Take me away on your flying saucer." Oh yeah, Oasis writes songs about aliens all the time. As the album goes on, the same songwriting and lyrical "genius" comes back on "Cosmic Castaway," "Special Forces," and "Foot Soldierz."

"Morning Afterglow" is the best and only good song on this record. It is a good example of excellent songwriting on the musical side, but the lyrics, while not bad, seem to make the message of the song unclear. This is the only song on this disc, with it's "na na na" chorus and string arrangement, that might be compared to Blur, Oasis, or any other of Britpop's big acts.

The rest of this record sounds like Vertical Horizon, Savage Garden, or any other terrible "modern rock" radio band you can think of. Every song contains the standard and predictable pop hooks, seemingly meaningless lyrics, and some neato keyboards and stuff. They even cover the Led Zeppelin classic "Dazed and Confused" in full generic radio-rock fashion.

This record probably would've been better off being a single. Please, for the love of God, pass this one up, kids. It's a definite waste of money. I think the new Limp Bizkit might even be a better buy.
