Movie soundtracks have become popular ways for artists to launch their own production careers, as well as experiment with their own music. Dave Grohl, of Foo Fighters and Nirvana fame, tries his hand at the soundtrack game with the original score to the film "Touch." Grohl wrote almost every track and played all the instruments, with occasional help from X's John Doe and Veruca Salt's Louise Post.

The sound is in a modern surf style, joined on the instrumental segments with elements of jazz and new wave. These backdrops for the movie are interesting to listen to but sound better when watching the accompanying scenes on the big screen.

"How Do You Do" is the only track that is an actual radio single, rocking out in similar fashion as the first Foo Fighters album. The real keeper is "Touch," a mellow duet between Grohl and Post. Those seeking out Grohl's more hard-edged side will find little to enjoy here. Still, Touch is pretty cool when considering it is mostly the work of one man.
