The Mac is back. Big deal.

In an age when every '70s rock group from Kiss to the Eagles is dusting off the old bones and partying like it's 1979, one could only expect Fleetwood Mac to throw its hat back into the ring.

They all tell the same stories about feeling artistically alive for the first time in years and throw in some crap about doing it for the fans. But the truth is, they're only in it for the money. How else do you explain the CD version of Fleetwood Mac's MTV special The Dance?

The album features 13 of the Mac's greatest hits, all played pretty much the same way as they were 20 years ago. So why buy this album when you can already get the greatest hits? The only real difference in the songs is the crowd noise and Stevie Nicks' and Christine McVie's slightly-more-ragged voices.

The only saving grace of "The Dance'' is the four new tracks the Mac have included, particularly Lindsay Buckingham's "Bleed To Love Her." All the new cuts sound just as vital as any of the older material. Even the Stones can't pull that off these days.
