My love for the Brooklyn-based four-piece, Clem Snide, has been well established on the data streams of Nude as the News. Here, lead singer/songwriter/guitarist Eef Barzelay delivers three new tracks of stripped down material featuring only him and his acoustic guitar (and the odd drum machine). This side of Barzelay speaks more to his sporadic solo performances than the lush, layered alt-country punk configurations of the full band. And while all three songs are solid, "Now the Moment's Gone," which sounds like Fleetwood Mac's "Landslide" with an acoustic punk chorus, is the real standout.

Besides the three new songs, the other three tracks on the Moment In The Sun EP are the radio edit and album versions of the title track (also known as the theme song to the NBC show "Ed") and a jazzier and less wispy remix of "Your Favorite Music," the title track from the spinART-released LP of the same name. Overall, Moment In The Sun is a worthwhile listen for Clem Snide completists like myself. But, for the rest of you, I recommend skipping the EP and listening to their brilliant third LP The Ghost Of Fashion.
